About

Sun holidays from Ireland, told straight. Mammy’s been consulted.

The short version

Seven Blue Dots tells you where’s actually warm, what flies direct from Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Knock and Kerry, and whether it’s any good when you get there. Out of seven dots. No brochure waffle.

Why does this exist?

Because it rains. A lot. And every travel site will tell you everywhere is “stunning”, the hotel is “boutique” and the beach is “just a short stroll”. It isn’t, it’s a guesthouse with a kettle, and the stroll is up a hill.

So we built the site we wanted: start from your own airport, see where’s warm this week, and get a straight answer on whether it’s worth your annual leave.

Why seven dots?

Five stars is what every hotel gives itself, and ten is too many to argue about in the pub. Seven dots means go. One dot means stay home and put the heating on.

Every place is scored on the things that matter:

  • Sun
  • Value
  • Crowds
  • Irish pub within 50m
  • Mammy would approve

The honest bit

Some of our links pay us a small commission if you book. It costs you nothing extra, and it never changes the dots. If a place is a three, it’s a three, and we’ll say why.

Weather is live where we can get it and long-term averages where we can’t, and we always say which. Fares change by the hour, so check the live price before you book.

Who’s behind it?

A small crowd in Ireland who’ve stood in the 5am security queue more times than we’d like to admit, and who still think a day of sun is worth the early start.
